I became a sex and relationship therapist because LGBT+, non-monogamous people and kink practitioners need affirming therapy
Finding a therapist that is informed, aware and affirming can be difficult. When I was in need of support, I wanted to work with someone who I wasn't going to have to educate, who wouldn't exotify me or deny parts of my identity. I quickly realised we needed more therapists with lived experience of gender, sexual, erotic and relationship diversity (GSERD), who also understood that no two experiences are the same.
I'm agender, queer and polyamorous. Whilst my identity and experiences greatly inform the way that I practice, I don't make assumptions about the way that you live, express yourself and practice sex and relationships, even if we use the same label. I respect the relationships you are in, your gender identity, your sexual and romantic orientation and your sexual practices, and you will never be pathologised for who you are.
I am a neurodivergent affirming therapist, and ensure that whether you’re working with me in sex therapy or relationship therapy, there is space for your full and authentic self. Neurodivergent clients deserve therapy which works with their brains, rather than against them. In my practice, this means that we find resources, exercises and ways of relating to each other that work for you.
I am an anti-oppressive practice, and intersectional therapist. This means that I speak about power and privilege in our relationship, invite my clients to reflect on how it feels to speak to me about their lives and their experiences, and I continually reflect on the dynamic that develops between us. I am also trauma informed, and prioritise trust and safety for my clients above all else.
Therapy using a range of models and strategies, at a frequency that works for you
My primary role is to understand what you are going through. It can be hugely rewarding to talk about your experiences in therapy, and begin working through your worries. I offer a safe, confidential space to discuss the challenges in your life, and how they are affecting you and your relationships.
I’m a pluralistic therapist, which means that I integrate models and tools from a range of schools of therapy and find what works best for you. It also means that we make decisions on interventions, exercises and treatment plans together, and have a continual dialogue about our relationship, and the direction that therapy is moving in.
Part of my role as a sex and relationship therapist is often solution focused; alternatively, it may be that you just need a space to talk with a professional who understands. If you'd like our sessions to be structured I can create a treatment plan with you, so you know the direction that therapy will move in. This may include different exercises that I will facilitate in therapy, as well as things for you to try at home in between sessions.
I offer weekly, fortnightly and one-off sessions, delivered online either by telephone, video call or email.
